Rex Oil Company, Inc. was founded in 1946 as one of the first Conoco Jobberships in the state of Colorado. It was purchased and incorporated in 1968 by Glen and LynnAnn Balenseifen. At that time Rex Oil Company, Inc. had 1.6 million gallons of light oil, and 30,000 gallons of lube oil volume; one bulk plant located in North Denver; two service stations and four employees. We ran two tank-wagons and oil was delivered with Glen’s pickup.

During the next ten years, Rex Oil grew tremendously. We expanded to become a regional supplier to many Conoco Sub-Jobbers and became a Certified Repackager of Conoco Lubricants. We soon out grew our offices and storage facility and were forced to build a much larger one that is still currently in use.

Since 1988 Rex Oil has continued to grow becoming a multi-brand jobbership selling close to 75 million gallons of light oil and 1,500,000 of lubricants annually with the help of our 45 employees. On an average day we run 20 trucks out of 4 bulk plants, delivering petroleum products to customers all along the front range of Colorado. In 1991 we became a member of the Commercial Fueling Network and began operations in our commercial fueling division. Since that time we have expanded to 4 cardlock facilities selling approximately 6.5 million gallons of fuel to area fleets each year. Also in that year Rexoco Stores, Ltd. was created to operate our direct retail units. In 2001 Rexoco will supply close to 15 million gallons of fuel to the motoring public through its 10 locations and 60 employees. In 1996 we celebrated our 50th year representing the Conoco Brand.

On January 1, 2001 we took yet another step into the future by merging with the James Oil Company of Golden, Colorado. This merger created a new Rex Oil Company, which is much stronger, more energized and better equipped to meet the challenges in today’s marketplace. Our new organization will allow more effective management of our resources concentrating experience and expertise in the areas where we see great opportunities for continued growth. In October of 2001, we took over the management and operation for the lubricant distribution facility for Conoco, Inc. in Commerce City, CO. We now have the capacity to handle large volumes of lubricants to meet our customer’s needs. Today we have positioned ourselves to be the leading distributor of quality lubricant and light oils in the state of Colorado.
